Quarantine period shortened to ten days
The health ministry has issued new Covid-19 quarantine guidelines that come into effect today

22.10.2020 - 09:16

The quarantine period for people at risk of having contracted Covid-19 has now been shortened from 14 days to ten, reports corona.fo.

The new guidelines also apply to people people currently in quarantine; however, anyone in quarantine, whether having tested positive or not, must have been symptom-free for at least three days before they can be released from quarantine.

Health authorities recommend that anyone who has been advised to go into quarantine undergoes follow-up tests six days after the initial test. A negative follow-up test result does not, however, justify release from quarantine.

Special guidelines for travellers

People travelling to the Faroes from a country with more than 50 positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants are required to undergo follow-up tests six days after the initial test.

These people must also be extra mindful of the health guidelines regarding social distancing and hygiene in the first 14 days after arrival.

In related news, no new Covid cases were registered from Tuesday's testing round.
